Zambia had to work hard to win 1-0 against Chad in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
The result sees Chipolopolo go just two points behind Group G leaders Ivory Coast who also have the advantage with a game in hand.
Zambia started off slow in the match with Chad making more shots on goal in the first 20 minutes of play, however by the half hour mark, they had found their rhythm and began to dominate possession.
The fact that it took Chipolopolo a long time to break down Les Sao’s defence, as the second half neared its end it looked as though they could end up being punished if they don’t find the opening goal in the fixture.
The goal finally came for Zambia in the 70th minute through Kennedy Musonda’s effort from close range after receiving a deflecting cross from Joseph Sabobo. They then did well to keep their lead thereafter, despite having a scare as the match neared its end.
A penalty was awarded to Chad in the dying minutes of the game, however, Toaster Nsabata guessed the right way and the match ended with Chipolopolo walking away with all three points in Cameroon.
