Wydad make breakthrough in pursuit of Lorch

Wydad Athletic Club have reportedly made a breakthrough in pursuit of Mamelodi Sundowna  attacker Thembinkosi Lorch.

According to a latest report by iDiski Times, Wydad and Sundowns have reached an agreement on Lorch.

Wydad will have Lorch on a short-term loan deal but they will have to speed up the process to finalise everything by Friday.

And that is because the transfer window in Morocco is slamming shut on 31 January, and for Lorch to leave Sundowns, he should be registered by the club then.

The proposed deal will see Lorch reunite with former coach at both Orlando Pirates and Sundowns in Rulani Mokwena.

It was actually Mokwena who pushed for Lorch’s shock transfer from Pirates to the Brazilians in January 2024.

However, the 38-year-old mentor was sacked a few months later, leaving Lorch at Sundowns where he has struggled for minutes.

The current season appears to be a difficult one for Lorch as he has only managed six appearances for Sundowns.

Now, Wydad are willing to give him a career lifeline albeit on a short-term deal in order for him to find his feet again.

The 31-year-old former Bafana Bafana international has seven goals in 27 official matches since joining Sundowns a year ago.
