Vincent Enyeama has served Nigeria meritoriously for 13 years earning 101 caps a fete not even accomplished by current coach Sunday Oliseh and therefore the nation owed him a befitting farewell not the shenanigans we all witnessed over the week.
It is absurd and totally ironical how coach Sunday Oliseh reacted to Vincent Enyeama arrival to camp on Monday just two days after burying his dear mother and from the look of things its obvious Oliseh harboured some hatred for the player and he found the right time to pull a stunt and disgracefully show his other side by shouting down Enyeama infront of players and adding salt to injury by ordering hotel security to throw out Enyeama half naked.
Enyeama might have arrived in camp on Monday but dear Lord, Sunday Oliseh should have been the last man to react as if he knew nothing had happened to the player who was still mourning his mother.Oliseh once again proved that it was a premeditated act and he had been actually waiting for an opportunity to strike the iron while it was still hot and he did it in the worst fashion possible humiliating a player who has given himself selflessly to the Super Eagles cause.
Enyeama has announced his retirement in a huff but the big question is was Oliseh happy with his captaincy and thus was looking for an exit for the long serving player ?
The Answer could be a yes or no but most definitely it smacks of arrogance from Sunday Oliseh whose high handedness in managing the team will be his downfall if he does not tread carefully he has to remember he was once the skipper and he would not have loved any coach to treat him the same way he treated Enyeama like a “mad” man who had invaded the Nigerian camp uninvited.
Sunday Oliseh should put his pride down and be the African by personally apologising to Enyeama for the humiliation and to Nigerians for bringing disrepute to the national team camp that has been camping in his second home Belgium.
