By Steven Kagiri,
Players of Mutundwe Lions a team owned by FUFA president engineer Hashim Moses Magogo have not been paid their wages for the past three months leading to a growing anxiety among the players.
The Lions were in blistering form in the round one of the league but recent events over the salaries of the players seems to have a toll on the team.
The team has managed only two points from the possible nine which leaves them in debate whether they are still really play offs contenders. The club suffered their third loss of the season after 13 games after going down by 2-1 on Sunday at Namboole.
It has now been revealed that the morale of the players is at its lowest ebb as the players have not been paid their salaries for three months.
‘’We have not received our allowances since December. The last time we were paid was in November. We are yet to receive the salaries for December, January and February,’’ said the source.
‘’Had we been paid, the club would not have struggled like it is.’’
The players are said to be gravely unhappy over the developments which has led to the low morale in their camp. Efforts to get the engineer for a comment were futile as his known numbers were off.
The club that rounded up round one in play off places is now out of them and is currently fourth with 18 points, five adrift The Saints who are occupying that last play off slot.
The big league play offs are played between the second and third placed teams in both groups Rwenzori and Elgon.
Baza lead the Rwenzori group with 31 points, bettering second placed Lweza and third placed The Saints with three and eight points respectively.
