It is always known that Tusker gets most of its players from Sony.The players later feature for the brewers against their former clubs.
Players like Victor Ali,Fredrick Onyango aka Uche,Noah Abich,Joakins Atudo,Fred Ajwang etc all joined the brewers from Sony.
Yesterdays match at Awendo which was well attended despite being a midweek clash was an entertaining match with two old boys prooving solid once again for the Sugar millers to penetrate.
Considering The millers fine run under stand in coach Salim Babu,everybody expected Sony to cruise past Tusker.
Most Sony Sugar fans from Awendo who bet in the favourite Sportpesa including one Nyakwar Othira as his known bid so high and knew Sony would carry the day.
Two players who were former Sony players stood tall in the heart of defense and midfield prooving hard for tomentors and veterans Marwa Chamberi together with Monda to penetrate.
Joakins Atudo,an old boy and a native from Awendo received rare praise from the crowd in several occasions with some fans saying he is too strong to penetrate.He however got unusual criticsm from the fans who asked him to play soft to allow them(Sony) score ‘ We know your mother sells and do business here at awendo market,we see her daily and so play like you are home’ one fan said from the charged stands.
Fredrick Onyango who also played for Sony together with Atudo got his nickname Uche from the same fans who also despite playing in the opposing team was a favourite and darling to the crowd.
In the match,Sony started strongly in the first half and looked more hungrier to get the first goal.
After a scoreless first half the brewers came in a rejuvinated side with stand in coach Leonard Opiyo bringing in Kago for Aziz Kemba.
Sony coach also brought out Amos Asembeka for Justin Monda.
Hebert Kopany was wasteful in midfield with his passes failing to reach the intended place making Babu to retire him for Ugandan Omunuk Robert whose adfition pile pressure on hard tackling Atudo.
You could notice the missing link in Sony’s attacking area in Samuel Onyango also called Daddy with rumours having it that he may have joined the armed forces.
The moment of shock in the 72nd minute when leading top scorer Jesse Were unleashed a cracker after a Kago pass leaving Sony Sugar custodian Allan Owiny for dead.
Sony pressed for an equalizer with Martin Musalia denying Victor Ademba twice in what could have changed the match.
The last 10 minutes prooved futile for the home side with no goal.Even the introduction of Nicholas Akoko for exhausted Marwa Chamberi had no effect
The rain began to drizzle with three added minutes forcing the crowd to leave.
