Rwanda national football team is in upbeat mood as they get ready to face Libya in the first leg of the second round of the 2018 World Cup qualifier due at Stade Olympique de Sousse on Friday.
Speaking to Ferwafa.rw after Wednesday’s training session at El Mouradi training club, Amavubi head coach Johhny McKinstry said, “The training camp has been going well so far, with all the players being in an upbeat and focused mood ahead of our first leg encounter with Libya on Friday,”
“Everyone has been working well in training, and we are pleased that fitness levels for the whole group,”
“We have studied our opponents very closely; and the players know what to expect come
Friday afternoon. We know that Libya have the quality to play good football but we are confident that if the players can implement our game plan over the two games, then we can come out on top,” added McKinstry.
Amavubi will hold their final training session at Stade Olympique de Sousse on Thursday afternoon ahead of Friday’s game.
With no injuries registered in the squad, players are ready to battle the Mediterranean knights for a positive result ahead of the return leg due in Kigali next Tuesday.
The return leg will be played on November 17 at the newly renovated Stade de Kigali in Kigali. The 20 winners from the second round will be divided into five groups of four teams and each group winner will qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The draw will be done after the second round.
