The eagerly awaited Malawi Football Association elections slated for December 12th took an unlikely twist when William Yabwanya Phiri’s nomination for the top post was rejected thereby being disqualified from the race.
It means therefore that if he choses not to appeal, then the race for the top seat will be a two horse race between Walter Nyamilandu against Wilkins Mijiga.
Phiri who was nominated by the National Referees Committee(NRC) was locked out considering that he has been in football administration for five years, the minimum for Presidency.
In other positions, the current FA first Vice President will rock horns with leagues treasurer Tiya Somba .
Othaniel Hara will battle Pikawo Ngalamira for the second vice president seat while Rashid Mtelera,Daud Mtanthiko,Jabba Alide,Flora Mwandira,Masauko Medi and Gunda will all fight for membership position.
Official announcement of thr succesful candidates will be made by 21st November by Judge Sunduzwayo Madise who chairs the electoral board.
