“King of Assists” Karim Nzigiyimana is comfortable at Kenyan Premier League Champions Gor Mahia and is not thinking of switching clubs just yet.
Speaking to KPL.co.ke from Addis, Ethiopia where he is captaining Burundi national team in the ongoing CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, the influential right full back admitted that he was informally approached by Zambian side Nkana FC for a possible move down south but he is not giving it a thought now.
“On the day I arrived here, some officials from Zambia approached me and asked me if I would like to join Nkana and I told them I would think about it. It has been three days now and to be honest I haven’t even given it a thought,” Karim told the site.
“There is a lot in my mind right now. The CECAFA Senior Challenge has just begun, and afterwards I have to return to Kenya because I might be required to play in the GOTV Shield final matches. For me those things are far more important and urgent at the moment before I consider next season,”
Karim has been unstoppable for Gor since joining from Rayon Sports of Rwanda – his exploits which saw him assist over ten goals for the champions in all competitions earned him a special place in the hearts of K’Ogalo fans who nicknamed him “King of Assists”, he was voted the best player of the month of July and he has also been nominated for the most valuable player of the year and the best defender of the year awards.
Karim has also turned out for APR,Kiyovu Sports Rwanda,Vital O of Burundi and AS Vita Club of Congo before, but he admits his life at the 15-time Kenyan champions has been the most memorable saying he admires the fans.
“The fans are just like me. They are crazy about football. Very crazy. If I told the number of times I have been stopped on the streets by people I do not know but who want to make sure I have a way of getting home safe and sound so I can play well next match, you wouldn’t believe me. The fans are just amazing.” He added.
It will however remain to be seen if Gor Mahia will be able to hold on to their most priced assets amidst the much talked about financial difficulties in the club when bigger and better offers come knocking.
