Ethiopia’s Walia Ibex coach Yohannes Sahle is uncertain of his future as head coach of the national team soka25east.com can exclusively reveal.
Sahle who took over from Portuguese Mariano Barretto early in the year faced a barrage of critism from the local media especially after the team was knocked out of the 2018 World Cup qualifier by Congo.
The soft spoken former International speaking to soka25east.com in Addis Ababa expressed his sadness at the perception the media were creating to the passionate football fans leading to widespread criticism despite ensuring that the country qualified for CHAN 2016 in America.
“I love coaching Ethiopia Walia Ibex and the players have been fantastic but as a human being sometimes the critism levelled at me is not warranted at all to the point I am asked questions like why i rarely come out from the dugout when Ethiopia is playing ”
“Criticism is not bad at all as long as it points out at your positives and it does not turn personal like some people have turned it sometimes I feel really unappreciated yet I have been giving my best “Sahle told Soka25east.com
Proded to suggest if he will still be coach of Walia in the long term,Sahle was straightforward “to be sincere I really don’t know my fate as we talk as alot has been said that will depend on the federation but all in all whatever happens I will embrace and I am even ready to go back to America where I used to stay “he added.
Sahle has been instrumental in giving young players an opportunity to play for Walia something that has not gone well with many pundits and journalists as many have put pressure on him whenever the team loses.
