CECAFA 2015 – Uganda braced for a tricky encounter with Zanzibar as Rwanda, Tanzania eye quarters.

CECAFA 2015 – Uganda braced for a tricky encounter with Zanzibar as Rwanda, Tanzania eye quarters.

Uganda Cranes takes to the field this afternoon in Awassa, Ethiopia for their second group “B” game against Zanzibar Heroes. The tie will be a crucial one for Coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojovic side after crumbling 2-0 in the hands of Kenya in their opening game on Sunday 22 when pundits predicted an easy ride for them.

Any slip up today against the Islanders who gave a good account of themselves despite losing to Burundi 1-0 could spell doom for the best ranked team in the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge.

Zanzibar boasts of a fairly gifted side which consists Yanga SC captain Nadir Haroub and fellow teammate Matteo Saimon and Micho is planning to be cautious in his approach while facing them.

“They played well against Burundi, we respect them like we do to all our opponents but we will give them a good game. We can’t afford to lose again today so we will give our best.” Micho told Soka25east.com.

The Serbian tactician blamed lack of experience for his side’s heavy loss to a Kenyan team he labeled a “World Cup team” on Sunday and it will be interesting to see how he approach today’s match with his developmental team.

Captain Faruk Miya the hero in Ugandan’s 3-0 win over Togo in the World Cup qualifier where he netted a brace will be called upon to rise to the occasion today after a dismal performance against the Harambee Stars.

Rwanda Vs Tanzania

In another match in Awassa today, Rwanda takes on Tanzania for a spot in the quarters; the two were victorious in their respective opening ties and a win for any side today books a spot in the last eight.

Rwanda shocked hosts Ethiopia 1-0 while Tanzania thrashed minnows Somalia four goals to nothing.
