Tanzania moneybags Azam FC have reported Ugandan left back Brian Majwega to the world governing body FIFA for absconding duty.
Azam Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Saad Kawemba maintains that the diminutive tricky fast paced left back still has a valid contract with the reigning CECAFA Kagame Cup champions and hence he cannot sign for any other club without their consent.
Majwega signed a two year deal with Azam in December 2014 rumored to be worth USD 20,000 (about Ushs 54M) sign on fee but he only lasted three months with the ice cream makers before going AWOL.
According to Kawemba, they have resorted to contacting the player’s agent on his un-contractual behavior to no meaningful achievements, only to learn that the player signed an abortive deal with Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) – that could not see the light of day since it didn’t have the blessings of the current employer.
And since Majwega has not been in touch with club, Kawemba reckons that they didn’t have a choice but to sign another player in his place and proceed with the matter to FIFA an amicable solution – a route they have been forced to take.
“We reported his indiscipline and un-contractual behaviors to FIFA for further action,”
“We expect that FIFA will react to it urgently and resolve the issue between us.” Kawemba added.
The latest development comes amid rumors that the player could be headed to rivals Simba SC.
