Defending champions A1000 Street demolished hapless Pumwani All Stars
3-0 to retain the 38th edition of the Koth Biro title as the curtains came down at the Umeme Grounds in Ziwani, Nairobi county.
The Kaloleni based team had been considered heavy favourites, and they
did not disappoint, scoring all three goals in the first half to win
the silverware and the Shs100, 000 cash prize.
Tusker midfielder Brian Osumba, Mathare United striker Eric Mata and
his counterpart Roy Syamba delivered the three goals all in the first
half.
Starehe Legislator Hon.Maina Kamanda, Supersport E.Africa head Auka
Gacheo, and Supersport head of marketing and his Sportpesa
counterpart Kester Shimonyo graced the finals and presented trophies
t the winning teams.

and a gittering trophy while Pumwani coached by Mohammed Curtis
walked home with sh.75,000.
After the game, A1000 Street coach Zablon “Pro” Otieno thanked his
players for the hard work they had put in through the tournament, and
said that he was already looking forward to the next edition.
“I knew that we would win this. The difficult part came during the
semifinals and when we beat Opitos, I knew that we would retain the
trophy. I cant wait for the next tournament,” he said.
Osumba opened the scoring in the 28th minute when he managed to slice
through All Stars defense before unleashing a thunderous shot from
outside the box.
Eric Matta then doubled the scores in the 32nd minute after drawing
out goalkeeper Ryan Hamisi and shooting into the empty net.
Syamba, scorer of A1000 Street’s solitary goal in he semifinals,
completed the first half rout with a brilliant header past the poorly
arranged All Stars’ defense.
Home team Pumwani All Stars presented a more formidable game in the
second half, with Nakumatt captain Peter Nzuki, Tyrone Otieno, and
Saad Mohammed thrice testing Mathare United goalkeeper Peter Odhiambo
with their dangerous shots.
In the 63rd minute, Nzuki found himself unmarked just outside the box,
and he released a stunning right footed screamer which missed the
target by few inches.
The contest continued in the firm of a see saw balance, with Bernard
Meki’s efforts for Pumwani being matched equally by those from A1000
Street’s second half substitute Robinson Kamura.
In the third place play played at the same venue, Opitos beat
Headquarters 2-0 to clinch third place.
Wenyeji FC striker Salim Ochola received Shs15, 000 for finishing as
the top scorer with seven goals, while 16 year old Morris Muiya from
Umeme Bees received the same amount for being the tournaments best
goalkeeper.
Kelvin Kyalo from Headquarters was voted tournament’s Most Valuable
Player, and he received Shs20, 000 and a 43-inch flat screen
television from the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK).
