Wubetu Abate appointed as a head Coach of Ethiopian National team ahead of the upcoming AFCON Qualifiers.
Abate takes over the job of Walia Ibex and will be paid a net monthly salary of 125,000 Birr with other benifits for two years.
Ethiopia are in Group K of the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers alongside Ivory Coast, Madagascar and Niger.
As a result of the pandemic virus, Football competitions in Africa were postponed including the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
In Ethiopia, a state of emergency was enforced. During the state of emergency sport activities were banned for the last six months.
On 22 September, 2020, the house of people’s representative of Ethiopia lifted the ban to restart competitions and said all the competitions must be managed based on COVID 19 competitions protocols.
This will mean Abate can now begin the task of assembling a team in time for the qualifiers.
