THE ABSA CUP IS BACK – BALANGE
The ABSA CUP fixtures have been announced, to those that might be wondering, its practically the same tournament that has entertained us for a couple years gone by. Namely, the Barclays Cup. The bank has been in the process of rebranding as an institution and it just therefore made sense that even their flag cup they bankroll should follow suit.
After, the draws were done. It became evident that this does not come as mouth-watering as it can get. Brutal derbies. Or maybe we might just describe some as family feuds.
We have an all Eagles derby, that involves the Zambia National Service sponsored teams Green Eagles vs their babies Young Green Eagles, followed by one of the oldest derbies Kitwe derby on Sunday 22nd March 2020. Most fans from the old school would tell you the rivalry between Power Dynamos and Nkana is a baby or a a gate crasher to that of Kitwe United and Rokana United now Nkana.
Before that, Saturday will see Napsa Stars entertaining Kabwe Warriors in the first game while a Ndola derby shifts to Lusaka as ZESCO United takes on Forest Rangers on 21st March 2020.
These are potentially mouthwatering matches weekend of 21 to 22 for Zambian football lovers. With plenty of subplots in them.
We shall bring to you the history of each team in this tournament for you to get an idea of what you expect as the games kick off.
Let the games begin.
