AmaZulu FC and Baroka FC shared the spoils in a rather disappointing goalless entanglement in their PSL encounter at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Both sides were aiming to steer away from the drop zone with a victory but none could find the back of the net.
AmaZulu’s Tsepo Masilela had a chance to put his team ahead in the 9th minute, but his header went wide and did not bother Baroka goal keeper Elvis Chipezeze.
Baroka midfielder Gerald Phiri Junior came close with a well taken freekick in the 14th minute however the Malawi international’s strike deflected just wide of the opposition goal.
AmaZulu attacker Maduna had two chances in quick succession approximately ten minutes after the half-time interval. On the first occasion, he broke the offside trap but shot straight at Baroka keeper Elvis Chipezeze.
On the second occasion, he also managed to get in behind while making sure he was not offside but fired his shot in to the side-netting when he really should have done better.
Shortly after, Usuthu were almost punished for their wastefulness when Ethan Sampson went on a bullocking run down the right-hand side before delivering in to the box for Malawian striker Richard Mbulu, whose shot was unfortunately straight at Boshoff.
Thamsanqa Masiya looked lively since replacing Lungelo Nguse and came close in the 79th minute when he cut inside on to his favoured right foot from the left-hand side but narrowly dragged his shot wide of the right-hand upright.
In the end, neither side could find the back of the net as a bottom-of-the-table scrap ended goalless.
