League leaders Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw at Orlando Stadium in their first match after restart and blew their chances of going 9 points clear of Mamelodi Sundowns.
Kaizer Chiefs’ last Absa Premiership match was against AmaZulu on 7 March, before the Covid-19 epidemic started escalating in South Africa.
Reeve Frosler, who started against AmaZulu, missed this evening’s fixture due to a one-match suspension.
Willard Katsande, fully fit again and will started against the Clever Boys. The Zimbabwean was accompanied in the central midfield role by the young and talented, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.
Samir Nurkovic headed in from a corner on 36 minutes to grab his 12th for the campaign to continue his fine form in front of goal.
The Serbian nearly grabbed another in the closing stages but his curled effort cannoned off the upright.
Amakhosi were made to rule their day with an 88th minute strike from Cole Alexander to steal a point for the clever boys.
And Nurkovic who was voted man of the match dedicated the award to the Amakhosi faithful
“I know you were watching us from home. Personally I am not happy with a point but this one is for you,” he said.
“We continue to fight. We have the same goals.”
