In the wake of this week’s report from Le Parisien that PSG full-back Achraf Hakimi was under investigation over an allegation of rape, the Moroccan’s lawyer has denied the accusations, while the Ligue 1 leaders are standing in support of their player.
While the woman who reported the alleged rape has not pressed charges, the Nanterre prosecutor has opened an investigation. Le Parisien claim that Hakimi found out an investigation had been opened an hour and a half before his appearance at FIFA’s The Best ceremony in Paris.
The club were first surprised to see the article appear on Le Parisien last night, report the outlet, and several meetings took place during the day between PSG and Hakimi’s advisors. The club’s legal team have gone over the case so as to accompany the player. PSG are supporting the player – the club indicating to the outlet that the player has firmly denied the allegations and that they have confidence in the authorities – while sponsors contacted by Le Parisien have declined to comment on a legal investigation which has just opened.
Le Parisien add that throughout Tuesday, the Moroccan’s entourage have been calm regarding the case. Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, gave the first reaction shortly after 8pm local time: “The accusations are false. He is calm and is making himself available to the authorities.”
