Ghana side Aduana Stars put up a spirited fight to beat visitors AS Vita from the Democratic of Congo 2-1 in an exciting Group A match played at the Agyeman Badu Stadium in a CAF Confederation Cup group phase game.

AS Vita who had not lost a game started on a wrong footing with the shaky defence exposing the keeper as early as the third minute when Bright Adjei poked in the goal to give Aduana an early 1-0 lead.

Aduana were not finished as they kept pilling pressure relentlessly and in the 10th minute they hit the back of the net again when Mohamed Yahaya pounced and gave them the 2-0 lead in what was becoming a bad day for the visitors.

The quick two goals seemed not to have shaken off AS Vita who took the fight to their opponents backyard attacking ferociously getting a goal back in the 26th minute from a Glody Muzinga strike.

The game went to the break 2-1 and upon resumption it was a cagey affair with the visitors failing to capitalise on their numerous chances.

Aduana held on to the important win getting four points to tie on points against their opponents. The second leg will be played  on July 29  away in Congo and it will be interesting to see how AS Vita respond at home.
