DR Congo and Villarreal forward Cedric Bakambu has expressed his delight at his sides 3:1 victory over Togo which assured them top spot in group C and qualification to the quarterfinals of the Afcon 2017 showpiece.
“we knew we had a very strong team and we have demonstrated that, now the competition does not stop at the group stages, the hard part begins.Our strength is the union and solidarity , we need to continue like this.”
The 25 year old former French U19 international, is looking forward to a very difficult match in the quarters but he is optimistic that Congo will progress to the semis of the competition.
“There is no better opponent among the three teams that we can face, because if they are here its because they are strong teams.We did our job, we finished in the first place of the group and now we now we are going to follow what happens in the other group”
The leopards will either play Mali, Egypt or Ghana in the quarterfinals of the competition.
