Cameroon was held to a one all draw by Burkina Faso in an Africa Cup of Nations Group A match played on Saturday in Liberville, Gabon.
Lorient’ts striker Benjamin Moukandjo scored for Cameroon in the early minutes of the game with a cool finish before the break with Burkina Faso getting an equaliser late in second half through Issoufou Dayo’s header.
Burkina Faso were dangerous throughout with Ajax ‘s Bakary Koone being denied by goalkeeper Fabrice Odoa in both halves.
The draw puts the group open after the other game in the group ended in 1-1 draw between hosts Gabon and Guinea Bissau earlier in the day.
Burkinabes started the 2017 tournament encouragingly as Patrick Malo saw a fierce volley parried away by goalkeeper Ondoa.
But, against the run of play, Berland Traore showed his quality as he kept his cool to side-foot the ball few centimeters wide after Charles Kabore’s pass.
It was Burkina Faso who again looked more likely to score after the interval but, after Traore’s close-range shot was blocked by Ondoa,almost got shure of victory.
Fabrice Ondo nearly scored the second as he advanced down down the right and his cross was headed inches wide by Ambroise Oyongo missing a clear chance to extend the lead.
Cameroon were left ruing their wastefulness last fifteen minutes before Burkina Faso struck the equaliser. Issoufou Dayo rounding off a set piece to head home from a very close range after the goalkeeper slipped the ball to level the matters.
