Harambee Stars’ Sunday opponent Congo Brazzaville are in town ahead of AFCON 2017 Qualifier return leg set for Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.

A team of fourty comprising both players and technical staff touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi early Thursday morning. The squad will be staying at Safari Park Hotel, a stone throw away from Kasarani.

The “Red Devils” will have a feel of the match venue on Friday 3 at 3PM.

First Leg

The first stanza of the group “E” match retired to a 1-1 draw at the Marien Ngouabi Stadium, Owando in June 2015 – pacy winger Paul Were scored the opener for Kenya ten minutes into the match with Oniangou replying later from the spot on the 35th minute.

Congo Brazzaville, placed second behind Guinea Bissau with six points in the group cannot afford to stumble on Sunday against Stars if their dream of an eighth appearance at the Nations Cup is to come true. Bottom placed Kenya on the other hand have nothing to lose as they are already out of the race to Gabon 2017, with the only motivation being improving on FIFA Ranking.

In another match of the group, group leaders Guinea Bissau (7 points) will host third placed Zambia (6 points).

Open Training Session for Stars

Meanwhile Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has organized an open training session for the Harambee Stars, on Friday 3 June 2016, to enable members of the media carryout interviews with a selected number of players and members of the technical bench.

The training session will be held at the Utalii training grounds between 10am and 11am with interviews being conducted at the end of the session.

Kenya played two build up matches in preparations for the Sunday tie – against Tanzania (1-1) and Sudan (1-1).
