Guinea -Bissau President Jose Mario Faz has fulfilled the goverment promise of paying Djurtus their long overdue outstanding allowances.
According to a source close to Guinea-Bissau Football Federation players were paid allowances on Saturday night as they prepared for Monday’s departure to Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
In a president villa visit, the players received 12 million CFA francs. The money will cover for full allowances that were pending after qualification to the biggest football showcase in the continent.
“We want to make sure that these players are happy because they have a big assignment to represent us in Gabon and that is why we have decided to clear all their allowances. ” source close to federation told soka25east.
In the meeting, the Guinea-Bissau football federation asked the goverment to cater for the transportation of fans as they are the twelfth player in the Gabonese soil in offering the team morale and support.
“Our job was to make the players of the national team able to make a presence in Gabon in order to participate in the biggest African Cup of Football and we have already been able to honor this commitment,” said the source.
The federation assuared the goverment and the public that they are aiming to go past the group stages of the competition as that is every players dream.
“We started with the dream and the hope of achieving good results in Gabon, but the great truth is that it is our first participation in what concerns the biggest football competition in Africa. That’s why we have the intuition to go through the group stage “.
