Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe has been chosen as the referee for the Burkina Faso versus Cameroon clash in Group A, Africa Cup of Nations match that will be played this evening.

The Kapiri based whistle-man will be assisted by Kenyan referee Marwa Range and Angolan assistant referee Jerson Dos Santos in the second match of the tournament.

The 37 year old, officiated Club World Cup finals  worked his to the top of the African referee’s rankings and was last year shortlisted for the Glo CAF award for best referee in Africa.

He had a succesful 2015 which saw him stand as the fourth official at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals before he  was named at the centre man in the finals of the Confederations Cup the same year.

Last year alone he  officiated nine international matches which include CAF Club matches, Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and diffrent friendly matches.

A teacher at Kapiri Mposhi Elementary School in a small town north of Lusaka has also officiated countless of matches at the COSAFA tournament where he walked away with a gold medal.

In his career he has so far handed out 21 yellow cards and 1 red card in the last 7 international matches that he has been the centre man.

In June last years he handed 6 bookings in one game between Young Africans and TP Mazembe, which was one short of his record 7 yellow cards he handed out in a 2014 CHAN tournament game between Nigeria and Ghana.
