Cranes Coach Milutin Sredojevic today (Thursday) named his squad to play away to Comoros on Saturday, September 5 in the AFCON-2017 qualifiers.
Missing again in the 20-man provisional squad was Vietnam based Godfrey “Baba” Kizito, fueling speculations over his place in the team.
The 22 year old missed Cranes’ opening group “D” match of the qualifiers against Botswana which they won 2-0 at home in June.
The former Gor Mahia midfielder has been in fine form for his team Than Quang Ninh, winning numerous individual awards for his on field exploits since joining early this year and everyone expected him to make the national team cut.
Speaking exclusively to Soka25east.com Micho explained that Baba could not make it in time for the match due to league commitment.
“Baba could not make it in time for the match since he is still engaged with his team in the Vietnam league.” He said.
Vietnam Premier League is entering week 22 tomorrow, Friday 28, with Than Quang Ninh taking on Long An before playing Sanna Khanh on Tuesday,September 2.
Quang is sixth on the league table with 33 points from 22 matches.
Kizito made his debut for Cranes in 2012, cementing his role in the team during his Kenyan Premier League days in 2014 with Gor Mahia, however things changed when he made a move back to Vietnam this year and he has since not been called to the national team.
