Nigeria Super Eagles media officer Oluwatoyin Ibitoye has confirmed that the France based keeper will not be available for the trip to East Africa today (Thursday) and the subsequent friendly against Niger.
Enyimba FC keeper Femi Thomas was given a late call up to the squad which is camping in Abuja to fill the void. Head coach Sunday Oliseh has however downplayed the impact of the absence of the captain saying he believes in his squad.
“Definitely it won’t affect the camp and every player will be given an equal opportunity to feature for the team.”
Other keepers in the camp are; Wolverhampton Wonderers’ Carl Ikeme and Dolphins FC’s Ikechukwu Ezenwa.
Eagles play Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in the AFCON 2017 qualifier match on Saturday 5, at the National Stadium.
