Uganda Coach Milutin Sredojovic “Micho” is beaming with confidence after landing a relatively easy group in yesterday’s qualifying draw for the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon.
The Gabon 2017 qualifiers were pooled alongside Cape Verde, Tanzania and Lesotho in group “L”, and the Serbian is seing a window for back to back qualification, based on their current strength.
“The draw with Cape Verde,Tanzania and Lesotho gives confidence that Uganda will qualify for the second consecutive time, going by the team we have,” he tweeted.
The Cranes, as the national team is nicknamed, is a blend of youth and experience. They are currently ranked 73rd by FIFA, is arguably one of the most consistent sides in Africa today.
The team was voted Team of Year during the CAF gala awards on January 5.
Alongside the hosts, 12 group winners and three best runners-up will qualify for 32nd edition of the Africa’s biggest football showpiece.
The group qualifiers start in June and concludes in November 2018.
