Cameroon progressed to the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations after playing out a goalless draw with Benin at the Ismailia Stadium.
Cameroon have set up an exciting tie with Nigeria after finishing second in Group F with 5 points.
Cameroon were closed down well by a resolute Squirrels side who were looking for a point to qualify.
The defending Champions delivered some nice crosses during this game – especially in the first half – but apart from that, they were very blunt in attack. Choupo-Moting saw his effort saved just after 22 minutes. Zambo-Anguissa played a nice pass to Choupo-Moting, who ran towards the box before letting fly with a low fizzer. Allagbe plunged to his left to tip it behind.
Benin had a chance from a set piece on 42 minutes. Sessegnon pinged the freekick towards the far post, but with too much power. Steve Mounie are the far post had no chance of getting on the end of it.
The second half was pretty much the same with very poor shooting from both teams.
In the 67th minute Clinton Njie saw his effort go wide on the post. Yaya Banana headed his effort over eight minutes from timw.
In the end both sides happy with a point. Benin will wait to see the results of matches in Group E to see if three points are enough to see them through.
