South Africa rekindled their hopes of reaching the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations after beating Namibia 1-0 in their second Group D match.
Bongani Zungu’s second half goal ensured victory for Stuart Baxter and his team.
Percy Tau and Themba Zwane were at the very center of Bafana’s attacks on the Namibia defense.
Ricardo Mannetti the Namibia coach retained the likes of Peter Shalulile, Petrous Shitembi, Ronald Kitjijere and Ryan Nyambe in his starting eleven.
South Africa had more ball possession through over the entire 90 minutes even though Namibia moved the ball a bit quicker.
Baxter’s men stepped it up in the second period and their efforts were duly rewarded when Zungu rose above the Namibia defenders to head home from a set piece in the 68th minute.
South Africa will have to get a result from their last group match against Morocco on Monday 1st July.
Namibia have a mathematical chance of making the last 16 but will have to beat Ivory Coast with a convincing scoreline.
