The Eagles of Mali and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia played out a 1-1 draw in their second Group E game at the New Suez Stadium.
Tunisia coach Alain Giresse went with the experience of Wahbi Khazri and Naim Sliti upfront. Mouez Hassen also came in for Farouk Ben Mustapha in goal.
Mali’s coach Mohamed Magassouba put his trust in the likes if Moussa Marega, Kalifa Coulibaly, Abdoulaye Diaby and Moussa Djenepo.
It was a relatively entertaining game all round but none of the sides found the goals in the first half.
It was Mali who drew first blood just after the hour mark. Goalkeeper Mouez Hassen’s blunder gifted Mali’s Diadie Samassekou with a goal.
In the 70th minute, Wahbi Khazri leveled matter from a freekick, the ball deflected off the body of Moussa Marega and wrong footed keeper Djigui Diarra.
Mali continue to top Group E with four points while Tunisia move to two points. Angola face Mauritania tomorrow in Suez.
