Mauritania and Angola failed to break each other down as the two settled for a 0-0 draw in their Group E encounter at the New Suez Stadium on Saturday.
Mauritania were looking to do better after their 4-1 loss at the hands of Mali in the first game and earn their first ever point at the Afcon.
Angola drew their first match against Tunisia and with this second draw missed the opportunity to go second in the Group.
Adama Ba nearly scored the first goal of the contest but his effort was blocked by the Angolan defense.
Angola had probably the best opening of the entire match after 62 minutes, Wilson Eduardo fluffing his lines when presented with an open net after some brilliant work on the work by Gelson Dala.
The draw however, leaves both sides hopeful of progressing from Group E.
