William Troost-Ekong scored a late goal to give Nigeria a 2-1 victory against South Africa and qualify for the Semifinals of the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations.
Samuel Chukwueze scored the opening goal in the 27th minute to send Nigeria leading into the break.
The Villareal Winger was on song for the Super Eagles as he followed up on his deflected shot and with a second bite of the cherry slotted by Ronwen Williams in the South African goal.
The second half saw the South Africa team take the game to the West African nation with Tau, Mothiba and Lorch.
But it was Bongani Zungu who leveled matters as his goal was given by the VAR after it had initially been ruled for offside in the 71st minute. Replays showing that the ball had come off the back of Odion Ighalo before it went onto Zungu’s head for the equalising goal.
But defender William Troost-Ekong scored what would prove a winner in the 89th minute as he bundled the ball into the net from a cross at the far post leaving Bafana Bafana with little time to react.
Now the Super Eagles fly into the Semifinals and will wait the winners between Ivory Coast and Algeria.
