Sadio Mane struck a brace as Senegal beat Kenya 3-0 in the final Group C match of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Liverpool man missed a first half penalty with Patrick Matasi diving to his right to make the save as both teams couldn’t register any goal in the first 45 minutes.
Kenya needed a point to secure their first ever qualification out of the group stage but Senegal were determined to take all the spoils.
In the 63rd minute, Matasi was caught out of his zone as tried to stop a cross. Ismailia Sarr acrobatically drilled home Senegal’s opener.
Sadio Mane doubled the lead for Senegal with an excellent finish on 71 minutes before successfully converting a spot kick on 78 minutes.
Philemon Otieno was shown red for a second bookable offense having brought down Ismailia Sarr in the box, and Mane made no mistake this time from the resultant spot kick.
The win sees Senegal finish second in Group C with six points from three games while the Harambee Stars finish third in Group C with three points from three matches and will know their round of 16 fate on Tuesday when the final round of group matches is played.
