AFCON 2021 Qualifiers: Cameroon captains Altributes poor performance to Inadequate Preparations.
By Etienne Mainimo Mengnjo
The captain of the Cameroon national football team, Choupo-moting has said, inadequate preparations is the reason behind their poor show in the first day of play of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON qualifiers.
Choupo-moting made the declaration on Wednesday November 13 in Yaounde shortly after the Indomitable lions registered a virgin tie with the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde.
In a post-match press conference, Choupo-moting stated that, “The preparation wasn’t optimal, and we trained only once together. We were disadvantaged by the pitch for we have technically endowed players. Each player could do better but the preparation wasn’t optimal. Some players came in just yesterday. It’s a new team, and we need more time to build up.
Despite the poo outing, the PSG forward added that, “The motivation is there! We know what happened the last time, so we take all matches seriously. Physically it wasn’t easy. We take each game serious and our ambition is to win each of them.”
However, Cameroon failed to put up a good show in Yaounde in a game that many fans thought it was going to be an easy going for the team.
It was Antonio Conceicao second game as coach of the Indomitable Loins of Cameroon but first on Cameroon soil after his appointment. Cameroon will face Rwanda on November 17 in Kigali while Cape Verde will face Mozambique on November 18 in Praia.
