South Africa are through to the quarter-finals of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as one of the two best third-placed teams from the group stages.
Duncan Crowie’s charges needed Burkina Faso to beat Cameroon on Sunday in order to advance, and that’s exactly what happened on Sunday night.
Burkina Faso scored twice in the space of two minutes to beat Cameroon 2-1, and the two goals sealed South Africa’s passage to the quarter-finals.
South Africa were in Group B alongside Morocco, Nigeria and Zambia, and they finished third with a goal difference of -3.
