Morocco were too smart blowing apart Ghana’s Black Meteors in their second group game at the Africa U23 Cup of Nations following a 5-1 defeat on Tuesday night.
Morocco wasted no time in establishing their intentions after Michael Richardson scored just seven minutes into the game before Ismael Saibiri doubled the lead six minutes later.
The Atlas Lions extended their lead following a brilliant team play which resulted in Yanis Begraoui adding the third after the 30th minute mark.
Ghana were handed a lifeline after Salim Adams scored with two minutes remaining to half-time.
A minute later the Black Meteors had a goal ruled out after Fatawu Issahaku’s low drive was rescinded following a VAR check.
After the break, Barcelona star Abdessamad Ezzalzouli added Morocco’s fourth following a poor clearance by Terry Yegbe before Begraoui added his second of the game and the final nail in Ghana’s coffin.
Morocco had a late goal ruled out for offside.
The Black Meteors will next face Guinea for a place in the semi-final of the competition.
