Cameroon national team star Ambroise Oyongo will be flown to France for treatment after a serious injury he sustained during 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match aganist Morocco on Saturday.

According to a statement released by Indomitable Lions media officer the player will mostly likely be out of action for a period of seven months as reports indicate that the Montreal forward has suffered a rupture of the patellar tendon.

“The diagnosis made by the medical staff and confirmed by an MRI performed in a hospital in Yaounde indicates a rupture of the patellar tendon. The player must therefore undergo surgery. In collaboration with his Club, the Cameroon Football Federation is organizing for an evacuation in the shortest possible time, “reads part of the statement signed by Vincent de Paul Atangana,the Fecafoot media head.

The unexpected news has seen the player already receiving public support from his teammates lend by Adolphe Teikui.

“The whole battalion supports you.Have courage, “wrote Adolphe Teikeu on Facebook.

Cameroon won the match through a first half goal from Vincent Aboubakar that he scored just after the hour mark.

The Indomitable Lions are now sitting at in the first position on the table with three points and are the group’s joint leaders with Malawi on three points and one goal, who beat Comoros on the same day.

However they automatically qualify to the finals as the hosts and both nations will resume their campaign next year in March when Cameroon visit Comoros while Morocco entertain Malawi at home.
