Senegal national team head coach Aliou Cisse says that the side victory over Equatorial Guinea at Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium in Dakar on Saturday night was a deserving one as his charges were at their best.
Moussa Saw scored a brace with Idrissa Gueye netting the third goal of the match and coach Cisse is contended with win noting that they were worth the victory, having dominated a much difficult game.
“It is a well deserved victory in a difficult context,” insisted the Senegalese technician in an interview with Radio France International.
“The players have been professional and it’s a great victory,”he added.
Although Cisse was satisfied with the result, the former national team player made it clear that he had to make necessary adjustments in the second half.
” In the first half we played in 4-4-2 but the midfielders Idrissa Gueye and Henri Saivet tended to run in a vacuum and that’s why we made a system change in the second half, ” explained the coach pointing out that the team eventually evolved into 4-2-3-1.
“That brought more fluidity in the game and the chances have multiplied,”Cisse added.
Unlike their friendly match against Uganda on Monday that resulted to a goalless draw, the Lions of Teranga had more success in the Group A game that made them top the group ahead of Madagascar,a team they will meet away in March 2018.
