AFRICANS ABROAD: Three African players set the Portuguese Taca de Liga alight as they sail to the final

By Agnes Amondi,

Nigeria’s Chinaza Uchendu and Cameroon’s Farida Machia were in fine form as Sporting Braga thrashed City rivals Sporting CP 3-0 in Saturday’s Portuguese Taca de liga clash.

Uchendu was a second-half substitute while the Indomitable Lionesses forward featured in the starting line up as the visitors claimed the maximum points to clinch the final berth.

The Nigerian international was introduced in the 72nd minute and doubled the tally three minutes from time.

Uchendu, on her 18th appearance in all competitions this season, has now scored eight goals and provided several assists for Braga.

The win saw Braga finish second with six points from three matches to confirm their place in the final of the tournament.

In the same competition, South African forward Thembi Kgatlana inspired SL Benfica to 4-0 win over City rivals CF Benfica.

Kgatlana was on target as her Portuguese team reached the final of the competition.

She has been in good form; netted a brace in the 11-2 triumph over Amora a week ago following her debut goal against Sporting Braga last month.

The Banyana Banyana star has now scored three goals in three matches for SL Benfica.

They will now play Sporting Braga in the final.
