Aston Villa have signed Egyptian international Ahmed Elmohamady from Hull City on a three-year contract.
Elmohamady, 29, joins Villa at £1million to become the third summer signing following former Chelsea captain John Terry and goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
In an interview after his unveiling at Midlands, Elmohamady expressed his joy and promised to work hard for the club.
“I am delighted to be here at Aston Villa,” Elmohamady said of his move to the Midlands.
“Aston Villa is a great club and I am thrilled to join – it’s one of the very biggest clubs in England and its history and tradition is there for all to see.
“It’s a great time to join too as we look for promotion to the Premier League.
“I will give absolutely everything to help us achieve that goal.
“I know, first hand, what it takes to win promotion and I want that feeling again.”
Elmohamady was magnificent in his first season at the KCOM Stadium. Signed on loan from Sunderland, first in August and then again in January, he was the club’s Player of the Season on the way to promotion out of the Championship.
