Al Ahly’s football first team was held to a goalless draw on Wednesday against Pharco FC at Al Ahly WE Al Salam Stadium in the Egyptian Premier League.
There were several controversial refereeing decisions in the match, above all Percy Tau’s goal in the second half which was disallowed after reviewing VAR.
Pharco FC completed the game with 10 players in the last 12 minutes of the game after their midfielder Mahmoud Emad was sent off after a dangerous challenge against Mohamed Mahmoud.
The chances were few and far between in the first half but the second half saw Al Ahly dominating possession and creating chances but they were unable to make the breakthrough.
The match saw the return of Tau to action after being sidelined since June and he was a great boost to Al Ahly’s attacking line when he entered the pitch in the second half.
It was a frustrating evening as the Reds lost another two points in the race to win the Egyptian Premier League title.
