Egypt’s Ahly will be looking to maintain their position on the top of their CAF Champions League group when they host Tanzanian side Simba FC on Saturday.
Ahly, who reached the final in the past two editions of the prestigious tournament but tasted defeat on both occasions, sit first in their group with four points from a 2-0 win over DR Congo’s Vita Club and a late 1-1 draw away to Algerian side JS Saoura.
Injured winger Ramadan Sobhi, arguably Ahly’s most outstanding January signing, has been dropped from the team’s squad for the game..
Sobhi, 22, was taken off during the second half of the domestic league game against Wadi Degla Monday after picking up a muscular injury.
Ahly’s injury list also includes Moroccan striker Walid Azaro, winger Walid Soliman, veteran right back Ahmed Fathi and newly-signed full back Yasser Ibrahim.
The squad sees the return of midfielder Hossam Ashour and center back Saad Samir.
Central defender Ramy Rabia, who has been on the sidelines since January 2018, is also back to boost the team’s defence ahead of the third round of the competition’s group stage.
