Al Ahly have officially requested the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone their upcoming match against Medeama of Ghana in the Champions League Group stage.
This request comes after Ahly’s private jet encountered a minor accident at Accra airport in Ghana on Wednesday.
The match is currently scheduled for Friday, and the club believes it would be challenging to proceed as planned.
A statement on Ahly’s official website explained, “The club’s plane experienced an accident while preparing for takeoff from Accra airport.
“The aircraft is now unfit to fly, and with no alternative means of transportation available, it would be very difficult to play the game as scheduled on Friday.”
“The club has therefore approached CAF to request a postponement of the match.”
Currently, Ahly leads Group D with six points, closely followed by Belouizdad and Tanzania’s Young Africans, who are one point behind. Medeama currently occupies the bottom spot in the group with four points.
