Al Ahly thumped Etoile du Sahel 6-2 at Borg El Arab Stadium Sunday to storm to the African Champions League finals for the first time since 2013 on 7-4 aggregate.
Walid Azarou netted a hat-trick with Ali Maaloul, Hamdi Nagguez and Rami Rabai scoring a goal each to seal the finals berth.
Remi Bedoui and Iheb Msakni scored for the Tunisians.
The coach Hossam Al-Badri’s side, who are chasing a record ninth title, will face Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in the two legged finals.
Maaloul opened the scoring two minutes into play from Momen Zakaria’s assist as the hosts started on a high with a fully packed stadium behind them.
Walid doubled the scores from another of Zakaria’s assists in the 23rd minute before grabbing a brace off Maaloul’s assist in the 39th.
The match ended 3-0 at half time in favor of the hosts.
Walid’s hat-trick came three minutes into the second half assisted by Zakaria again, but Bedoui reduced the deficit in the 51st minute.
Hamdi restored the four-goal-lead a minute to the hour half with an own goal before Rabia made it 6-1 in the 63rd minute.
Iheb reduced the deficit further on the dot but it was not enough to remedy a disastrous outing.
Al Ahly will host the finals first leg on 27th October before traveling to Moroccco for the second leg on 3rd November.
