TP Mazembe have announced departure of out of contract Malian defense kingpin Salif Coulibaly.
Coulibaly leaves the DR Congo giants after five years of dedicated service which saw him feature in 151 matches – scoring 14 goals – receiving four yellow cards with no red cards.
“TP Mazembe would like to thank this great champion and wish him the best for the rest of his career,” the Ravens said in a statement.
With Mazembe, the 30-year-old won the CAF Champions League, two CAF Confederation Cups, one CAF Super Cup and three domestic league titles.
Coulibaly’s next destination is not yet revealed, but according to El-Ahly.com, the defender, who is known as disciplined, calm and easy to manage, is a top target of Egyptian champions Al Ahly SC.
The Red Devils are strengthening their squad ahead of the new Egyptian Premier League season and the return of the CAF Champions League group action after the World Cup.
They have already signed Ahmed Alaa, a defender, but their new French manager Patrice Carteron is still in need of one more addition in the central defense role.
“Al Ahly are interested in Malian defender Salif Coulibay and is a favorite to wear the club’s jersey in that position,” the website revealed.
