Al Hilal haved called off friendly match against Gor Mahia that was scheduled for Tuesday at Machakos’ Kenyatta Stadium due to injuries in their squad.
The 26-times Sudanese champions have been in Kenya since Friday last week for a short camp before they head to Monrovia, Liberia for their African Champions League preliminary game against LISCR FC Sunday.
On Sunday they lost 4-2 to AFC Leopards in a warm-up at the Kenyatta Stadium and the club claims up to five of their players picked various injuries and they do not want to risk any further by playing another friendly.
“Al Hilal claim that they got almost five injuries yesterday so they cannot afford to play another friendly,” Gor’s Assistant Secretary General Ronald Ngala told Soka25east.
Gor’s coach Dylan Kerr was planning to use the match to fine tune his squad further for their Saturday’s African Champions League match against Equatorial Guinea’s Leones Vegetarianos in Machakos.
The team over the weekend thumped Nakumatt FC 4-0 in the Kenyan Premier League first round match at the Machakos stadium.
