Kenya ladies, the Harambee Starlets managed to score two goals away to Algeria for a 2-2 draw in the Women’s Nations Cup qualifiers first leg on Friday 8.
The impressive result gives hope to the ladies for a dream and historic qualification to the continental showpiece for the first time ever, as they plot for the reverse tie in Nairobi.
Naima Bouheni grabbed a brace for the host scoring in the 28th minute and deep into the match in the 89th minute when Starlets thought they had the match all wrapped up.
An own goal from Fatima Sekouane cancelled Naima’s first goal with Jericho Mwanahalima scoring the other goal for Kenya.
The return leg takes place on Tuesday 12 in Nairobi – a 0-0 draw will be enough for Starlets to progress. The final will be hosted by Cameroon in 2017.
