Algeria saw off Tanzania at the Stade du 5 Juillet but their performance left more questions than answers in a 4-1 victory.

The hosts started off okay and a nice move gave them the lead. Shifty footwork from Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez allowed him to make half a yard of space and play an intricate through-ball for Baghdad Bounedjah who scored after 12 minutes

However, to the shock and dismay of the supporters Tanzania equalised when goalkeeper Faouzi Chaouchi was beaten far too easily at his near post with a header from Msuva  a corner.

But Algeria had some luck on the stroke of half-time as a cross into the box by Sofiane Hanni was turned into the net by one of Tanzania’s own player Shomari Kapombe  as  the  own goal restored the lead for the Desert Foxes.

In the second half, Aissa Mandi headed the ball across the six yard box to setup captain Carl Medjani for a tap in from close range after 53 minutes.

Tanzania continued to give Algeria’s back three problems and hit the woodwork on the hour mark, showing that there is still serious work to do with this side.

Bounedjah then scored a fantastic individual goal with some neat foot-work as he dribbled his way into the back of the net on the 79th minute, with another Mahrez assist.
