Former Kenya premier league champions Sofapaka will take on Algerian side USM Alger in a friendly that will be played under the floodlights of Camp Toyoyo on Wednesday.
Alger are in the same group with Kenya premier league defending champions Gor Mahia in the ongoing CAF Confederations Cup group phase.The Algerian giants already played Kogalo in a first leg match that ended in a barren draw in Nairobi.
Alger are in the country to prepare for their third group match against Rayon sports of Rwanda in Kigali on 18th of this month.Alger leads group D with four points having beaten Tanzanian’s Yanga 4-0 in Algiers before securing a point with Gor in Nairobi.
Sofapaka are currently second on Kenya premier league table with 40 points ,nine points below Gor Mahia who have three games in hand while their opponent settled sixth position in their league with 42points .
“It will be a great opportunity for us to play against African’s best and weigh ourselves because that’s where we want to be next year .It will be a great opportunity for us especially my players because we have to gain experience and learn a few things”, Sofapaka head coach John Baraza said.
