Kenyan international Victor Ali Abondo has signed for ABSA Premiership side Bloemfontein Celtic in South Africa.
Abondo, who has been a free agent after parting ways with another Premiership outfit Ajax Cape Town last year, penned a two-year deal.
“It is in Abondo’s best interest that the club allows him to leave after finding minimal play time due to injuries and competition,” Ajax said last year.
Abondo remains one of the most decorated players in Kenya – having featured and won titles with the country’s top clubs like Tusker, Gor Mahia and Sony.
He won his first Kenyan Premier title with Sony in 2006 before bagging two more with Tusker and Gor.
The Gor’s gong, which came in 2015, was more memorable, as they went the entire season unbeaten.
Abondo hails from Kisumu in the western side of Kenya and is an Alumnus of Otieno Oyoo Secondary School. Nicknamed “Teargas”, he is famed for his stinging shots and set piece prowess.
Three more players including striker Roggert Nyundu and Jacky Motshegwa were signed alongside Abondo.
