Comoros national team head coach Amir Abdou is not disappointed with his team’s overall performance against Kenya on Saturday, despite being held to a 2-2 draw.

The Les Cœlacanthes scored their goals through Youssof M’Mchangama, from a long range shot to cancel Kenya’s lead in the fourth minute and Bakar Djmel, who netted a beautiful goal in second stanza before Harambee Stars later equalized with seven minutes to the end of the match.

Abdou, who left out six of his regulars against a full-strength Kenyan outfit, feels that his young players gave a good account of themselves in tough, unfamiliar conditions and deserved to walk away with the draw.

“We missed a lot of players. We had only three days of preparation and we still played well and as you know we had financial difficulties. We would have liked to have a week of preparations but unfortunately it was not possible,” said Abdou in an interview with ComorosFootball.com.

He added that that his players would benefit immensely from the international exposure and is happy that his team managed to put Kenya under pressure and failed short of carrying home a famous win.

“I was happy with the performance; this game gave us a chance to assess some players and I am happy with the way they performed on Saturday,”Addou added.

Both teams were using the match to prepare for upcoming qualifiers in September for the Africa Cup of Nations.
